EMDR Intensives:
Deep Therapeutic Work on Your Schedule
serving adults in the Inland Empire including Rancho Cucamonga, Riverside, Ontario, Claremont, and Fontana - and virtually throughout California and Ohio.
EMDR intensives are an innovative approach to therapy designed to help you feel better faster.
What is EMDR Intensive Therapy?
EMDR Intensives are a powerful approach that offers accelerated healing for trauma, anxiety, and depression. Rather than attending therapy for 50 minutes once a week for months, you instead set aside between one to three days for focused therapeutic work. During this time, you will engage in a deep therapeutic experience tailored to your specific goals and designed to help you heal from past pain.
EMDR Intensives are typically three hour EMDR sessions, occurring over the course of one to three days.
How does it work?
To prepare for your Intensive, we will meet for a Pre-Intensive Interview in where we will clarify your goal for the Intensive, look at your support system and the ways you typically cope with stress, and identify specific targets for our work together. I’ll customize your client workbook and assessments and send them your way. to help you prepare for your Intensive and to provide me with all the information I need to support you in your healing work.
During the Intensive, we will do two things:
Help the things that have hurt you to hurt less
Make the things that make you feel good or powerful feel even stronger.
We will do this with EMDR Reprocessing as well as guided meditations, somatic resourcing, and artwork, all supported with the bilateral stimulation used in EMDR. We might focus most on early life experiences, specific traumatic events, triggers in your current life, or how you envision meeting challenges in your future. The process is entirely customized and specific to you.
After the Intensive, we’ll meet for a Post-Intensive Interview to reflect on your most powerful takeaways and to discuss incorporating the growth that you’ve seen into your life.
Benefits of an EMDR Intensve
Cost Effective & Time Saving
Accomplish in just a day or two what might take weeks of traditional therapy. EMDR Intensives are a cost-effective alternative to weekly therapy and are ideal for busy professionals and motivated individuals who are ready to see change.
Get Started Sooner
EMDR Intensive clients enjoy priority scheduling. While many specialized trauma therapists are on a waitlist (where you can wait for weeks or months), EMDR Intensives can be scheduled much sooner.
Flexible to Your Schedule
Committing to weekly therapy isn't for everyone. Because EMDR Intensives occur over the course of one to two days, you do not need to schedule weekly time off work or childcare to attend therapy.

Intensives are innovative and growing in popularity among trauma therapists for a good reason.
A large, well-designed randomized study found that an intensive 1-week course of evidence-based PTSD therapy had the same outcome as delivery of the same treatment over several months; except that the results were achieved much more quickly in the intensive format (Ehlers et al, 2014).
EMDR Intensives can be safe and effective for those with Complex PTSD (Bongaerts et al, 2017) and
Research shows that EMDR was well-tolerated with patients with PTSD and contributed to a significant reduction of symptoms after intensive therapy (Zepeda Méndez, Mayaris et al, 2018).

When EMDR is incorporated into weekly therapy sessions, trauma reprocessing work is often split into 20 to 30 minute chunks that are spread out over the course of weeks or months. This can interfere with the effectiveness of the treatment as each EMDR session requires time to fully activate the reprocessing experience. This may also lead to extended periods of higher anxiety or depression in between sessions as it can take several sessions to clear your specific EMDR targets.
EMDR Intensives offer the opportunity to approach your trauma healing in a focused setting with a specific goal, increasing the therapy’s effectiveness and reducing the amount of time you spend in therapy overall.
My goal is to help you graduate from therapy by meeting your goals.
In my experience, intensive EMDR sessions are the most efficient approach to reduce your symptoms and improve your well-being.

EMDR Intensives for Specialized Populations
EMDR Intensives for Chronic Illness
Chronic illness can result in medical trauma, complicated grief, and feelings of isolation and disconnection. EMDR Intensives for chronically ill adults can help to reduce the emotional pain of past traumas related to your medical condition and build a positive sense of a future living alongside your condition.
EMDR Intensives for Parents
If you experienced pain or discomfort in interactions with your caregivers as a child, traumatic reactions can start to interfere with your ability to be the parent you want to be. EMDR Intensives for parents are flexible to your childcare schedule and can help you to be more patient, compassionate, and regulated with your kids.
EMDR Intensives for Complex Trauma
