An eight week fat-positive group for Californians of all body sizes who want to feel:

more calm and kind towards their body

more connected to other fat-positive people

more confident navigating a diet-culture-driven world

This Group Is For You If:

  • You're Tired Of:

    • Being the only one in your friend group or family to actively fight against diet culture

    • Not knowing how to respond to diet talk

    • Knowing that you want to fight diet culture, but not knowing how

  • You Feel:

    • Lonely and disconnected from a fat-positive community

    • Awkward when you get body comments from others

    • Overwhelmed and self-critical

  • You Want To:

    • Make some new fat-positive friends

    • To feel confident and supported

    • To feel more connected to your body in a more positive way

Here’s What You’re Getting:

  • Two months of weekly support

  • Weekly journal prompts to help you process what we learned outside of the group

  • Weekly printable affirmation card so you can build your deck over the course of our group

Each group meeting covers a topic related to body liberation, fat positivity, and connecting to your body as it is right now.

Inside the Group, You’ll Learn:

  • Emotional regulation skills to help you navigate big feelings

  • How to build and connect with your support system

  • The connection between fatphobia and trauma

  • What body liberation is and how we can connect to it

And lots more! Each session we will start by focusing on a core theme, and then we’ll make space for us to connect and process to the way that theme shows up in our lives. You’ll leave with intentional journal prompts and affirmations connected to the theme!

This Sounds Amazing…But How Does It Work?

  • Body Rebel Club Meetings

    We meet on Monday evenings (5pm - 6:30pm) virtually on Zoom. During our meeting, your two therapists will guide you through learning new skills, understanding yourself more deeply, and connecting with other group members.

  • Weekly Journal Prompts

    You’ll leave each meeting with a journal prompt (or two) for you to carry with you into the week. We encourage you to reflect on what you processed in the group between session to integrate a new way of thinking about yourself and your body.

  • Affirmation Card of the Week

    We’ll also send you a weekly printable affirmation card that connects to our theme. Over the course of our work together, you’ll build a whole deck!

Meet the Team

  • Sarah Jane Thomas (she/her), LMFT & Co-Leader

    Sarah’s therapy practice supports folks in bigger bodies as they heal from diet culture, reconnect with the body and learn to trust their intuition again. She’s looking forward to holding a warm, affirming space for folks to be in community care with one another.

  • Summer Forlenza (she/her), LMFT & Co-Leader

    Summer has worked in eating disorder treatment since 2018, and specializes in trauma recovery in her private practice. She is most excited to integrate creative expression and emotional regulation skills into our work.

  • Our group is open to anyone residing in the state of California who wants to build community with fat-positive peers.

  • This is a virtual group meeting over Zoom on Mondays evenings from 5pm - 6:30pm, May 2nd - June 27th, 2022.

    (We will take a week off on May 30 for Memorial Day).

  • Session topics include:

  • Joining this group will require a $200 deposit at sign up, followed by two monthly payments of $400.

    There are select sliding scale spots available, please inquire if this is a support you may need.
